About us

The Sheffield Autistic Society is a local parent and peer-led support group for autistic people and parents and carers of autistic people of all ages.

The Society is inclusive and aims to support any individual, of any age, who may be on the Autistic Spectrum. It was established in 1989 as a support group for parents and carers of children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and also to support any person on the spectrum too.
We became a registered charity in 1993.

We are a friendly group who are passionate about getting the best support and services in place to help and assist individuals of all ages who are affected by ASCs. We are represented on the Sheffield Autism Partnership Board and in other committees and organisations where autism is discussed.

Read about some of our activities, and how to join us, in the pages listed under “What’s Going On” at the top of this page. For information on different topics relevant to autistic people and their families (Diagnosis, Support Services, Education, Employment, Carers and many more) see the pages listed under “Find Out About”, also at the top of the page.
